Emily's first day of Kindergarten

It's finally here! Emily's first day of big school. She was so excited and only changed outfits twice! Mom didn't cry either! I got a little teary at one point, but no tears. She was more interested in the new stuff in the classroom than in the milestone that was occurring.

Today half the class was there, the other half went yesterday. On Tuesday, the entire class will be there so we really consider that her first offical day of school, but we did it! We dropped our first child off at public school. Let the learning begin! (good thing she had a great daycare/pre-school - JK)

Here are some more pictures...Forgive the images! I broke my camara and we got a new cheapie one last night so I don't know how to work it and it's cheap but we got pictures!

Emily, Mike, and Noah on her first day of school and Mommy and Emily in the hallway at school!

Emily in her classroom next to her cubby.

Noah is doing well and is all boy! His current obsession is Spiderman, Buzzlightyear, and shooting. He shoots you when he is mad at you so we are working on that one! Noah is almost potty trained. He has been in big boy underwear for about 2 weeks with only a couple of pee accidents at home. We are still using a pull-up for night time because I'm not willing to get up in the night to change sheets at this point. But, I think we are almost offically there!

Emily started Cheerleading a couple of weeks ago and Saturday is her first game. They rotate between 4 games and it lasts about an hour. She is cheering for the flag football team of 5-6 year olds. I think there are about 12 girls so she is having fun and most importantly, she got pom pons!

Mike and I are trying to keep up with everything in our old age and lack of sleep. Someone told me I can sleep when I'm dead so I'm trying to just enjoy the chaos that is currently our life. The house is great - still a work in progress but we are settled and the dogs and the kids are doing their best to keep us very busy keeping it nice.

On the chicken front...we are down to 7 and 2 are roosters! We already killed one rooster (and attempted to eat him - I don't recommend this. The meat was really tough and chewy!) and 2 died shortly after we got them. The good news is we are getting some eggs now. So....after the next 2 roosters go we will be down to 5 hens. Not sure what Mike has planned but I know we are going to pimp out the Rhode Island Red rooster for a bit. Do you think we could make our fortune in that?

Mike and Emily went on their annual camping trip with Mike's dad in August so I got some alone time with Noah. It was great 1:1 time for both kids and each of us. I will say that I'm very thankful they made 3 more Star Wars movies because Noah loves them and I've seen Toy Story 2 more times than I can count! Mike is taking Noah camping this weekend for a couple of days since that was his reward for peeing and pooping in the big potty - or at least the incentive I used to get him there! Girls weekend for Emily and I - I'm thinking spa days! She will need a massage after the stress of her new environment, right?

Well, that's about it for us. We continue to pray that God is with all of you and that He continues to bless you as he has and does us.

Take care and God Bless,

Gretchen, Mike, Emily, Noah, Nikki, and Elsie
