08 July 08

Sorry it's been awhile since I updated everyone. We have been crazy busy, so this might get long!

Noah turned 5 months old!

He was having issues with his poop and daycare kept sending him home, but at last, we prevailed and, thanks to confirmation from the pediatrician per their request, he was only teething. He ended up getting weighed and now weighs 17 ½ lbs! We were so occupied with Noah’s issues we ignored Emily who, under hysterics, went to urgent care last Monday and has a raging ear infection. Go us! Mike and I are up for parents of the year again!

Noah is sleeping better, but still wakes about once a night, but the last few nights; this has been 4:30 and 5 so maybe we are turning a corner. I think it is actually painful for us to actually get sleep! I seem more tired if I sleep more, like it’s still not enough for me to catch up. I was less tired when I slept less!

He has been on a nursing strike on the right boob for awhile, but I’m smarter than my 5 month old and I had a major victory this morning so I’m hoping we can continue nursing to my goal of 6 months. I don’t think he will go much longer than that. Emily lasted 7 months, then weaned herself so I’m thinking Noah will probably just make 6 months. We’ll see. He has eaten bananas, applesauce, and peas. However, he loves Sherbet and Ice Cream and snow cones the best!

We had a wonderful Independence Day Holiday!

We went down the street to the local Archer Lodge celebration. It was just like a movie of small town, America. It was just so pleasant. They even had a small stage with gold paper stars hanging down. We went there in the day for some activities for the kids including the blow up

rides – here’s Emily on the slide,

then lunch and the highlight was the “splash down” courtesy of the Archer Lodge Volunteer Fire Department where they turn on one of the hoses from the fire truck and the kids, and a lot of adults, run around on the baseball field getting soaked! Mike and Emily had a blast! After that, we headed home and everyone crashed for a couple of hours. Then we headed back for the Pony rides, but the ponies were sick (aka it was too hot!) so they started the "Little Miss Archer Lodge" pageant early. Emily decided to go up on stage during the “Little Miss Archer Lodge” Contest as a future “Little Miss Archer Lodge.” Yep, I have a future beauty queen on my hands!

Her friend from school, Alyssa, was going up because Alyssa’s sister, Alexis, was in the pageant. Emily saw Alyssa and said, I want to go up with Alyssa. OK..so, I took her up and put her name on the list. Now, she saw the contestants do a dance number so after she did her turn down the catwalk (by herself) with a big wave and a smile, she came back to the line and asked when they were going to play the song because she forgot to “shake my booty”…aka dance! We are so proud.

Emily started swim lessons yesterday. She goes 4 days a week for 2 weeks. She loves it and we had to fight her to go home after the 30 min class! Mike and I aren’t that impressed with the new program we are trying. We will see how night 2 goes and then decide to pull her or not.

Dogs are fine, cat is still fat. Mike and I are tired, but doing well.

As usual, we hope and pray that God continues to bless everyone as much as He has blessed us. Take care,
Gretchen, Mike, Emily, Noah, Nikki, Elsie, and Shakes

I can't believe how big Noah is! Crazy how quickly they grow.
It sounds like you had a picture perfect holiday weekend. :)
Glad the poop issues are over and that E is on the mend!
